Happy Mother’s Day folks! Happy Sunday too! We don’t usually have reviews on Sundays but … I am always up to watch a student-made film for the most part because I believe in the power of mentorship. Today I review our first student film (and also first African non-Kenyan short film) - The Stranger (2016).
As student projects go this was a very good production - witty and brave. I like the fact that at some point we see a fairly good attempt at the ‘vertigo effect’ (dolly zoom); I’ll let you spot that in the film.
The casting was fair with the best executed role being that of the creepy electrician. I will not spoil this very short short for you, so watch it for yourself!
Again, share your comments and reviews. Also, if you want us to review a particular film, whether local (Kenyan) or foreign, please do tell us which and we’ll be sure to do so! If you are a filmmaker and want to share your films with us - do so! If you are an actor and want us to do a profile of your work - tell us!
